Fall Is Here, I’m Back!

I was enjoying the subtle change in weather in October that comes with the arrival of birds migrating from the northeast and gathering on powerlines until they make a last push to their final destination along with human snowbirds.  This is also the time of year to get started with outdoor projects that are impossible (now at this age) to tackle in summer, like our 30 year old fence.  Having finished the first five sections along with several trips to Home Depot, we woke last week to two days of record breaking cold weather in Florida. It snapped me out of my summer slumber and a reminder to get inside and work on our newsletter.  Of course when it’s cold here, I know it’s gotta be really cold back on Long Island and I always go outside and stand facing north to feel that northeast wind from Long Island hit me in my face while my backside is warmed by the sun.

If you follow me on Facebook you can see the many, many pictures I took from our magical Mother & Daughters cruise “Around The Boot” of Italy in September.  My sister’s and I had big concerns for Mom’s walking around Italy at 94 but she was a trooper and we were so glad we booked private tours to make the most of our time and customize the agenda to suit her stamina.   After years of hearing family and friends visits to the other side of the pond, this was my first experience across the Atlantic and it’s a lot to absorb in 11 days.  I also took a lot of pictures and video that I easily spent one week reviewing and editing and another week creating a 40 minute movie for Mom to share with her friends.  It took more time than I was on the cruise but what great memories and experiences we shared!

Mini Reunions

After I got back, Ron had a new car transport job the end of September from a couple that was moving to Florida from New Jersey and we flew into Newark to pick up the car and drive south.  I reached out and was able to coordinate what turned to be a three hour lunch stop off Exit 8 of the Jersey Turnpike to meet up with another classmate, John Cathey!

Barbara Lachick Dworkin has been busy as the spearhead for a few luncheons on Long Island with classmates.  They don’t have a regular meet set up but things are happening with reunion re-connections

If you want to be included you only have to express your interest for an invite.  Just email or text me and I will pass on your contact information.

Traveling Classmates

That June lunch sparked an idea “Why don’t we get to together for traveling?”

Nashville was on their bucket list so they made it happen and shared all thier their PG pictures!

Side Trip to Memphis and Graceland!

I know Barbara organized another lunch on September 5th somewhere and I never heard who attended but soon after an outing was planned for late September and another trip for October to Bar Harbor Maine and Arcadia National Park.

Another Lunch took place November 1st and I have no idea who was able to attend or where they met but Barbara makes the plans and puts it together so let me know if you want to hear about the next one which, I’m only guessing, is probably after the holidays.

Speaking of the holidays, Jim Scandariato shared a picture from last Christmas proving that the guys do get together too!  At least for some holiday cheer!

Remembering Classmates

I am sorry to report that we lost our classmate John (Jack) Brady who passed recently.  He was on facebook, which is how I found out, and described himself as “A Simple Man” which probably explains why he’s not in our yearbook so don’t bother looking.  Jack lived in St. James and his service will be Saturday November 22nd at the Commack Abbey Funeral Home from 3PM - 7PM if you wish to attend.

Happy Holidays!

The holidays are upon us and I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Happy Holiday Season.
