NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2024 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫 🏫SCHOOL DAZE
BACK TO SCHOOL!
There's lots of Back To School shopping happening now in Florida because it's tax free until August 11th! We'll be running into lots of buses on the road next week all trying to learn their routes. At the same time, parents will be jockeying for position and spilling out into the road trying to drop kids off at school.
I never got dropped off at school and I never missed a bus. Smith's Lane was just over half a mile from my house and I walked there for first, second, fifth and sixth grades. I took a bus in third grade to Winnecomac and in fourth grade to Wood Park, the newest schools at the time. If you recognize yourself or can name some kids below, let me know!
First Grade! Aren't we adorable! Plaids and suspenders were all the rage apparently!
Second Grade! I know it says Grade 1 but the sign is wrong!
Fifth Grade! We're still wearing socks! The girls who made communion all got to wear stockings in their sixth grade picture!
I wish I knew everyone's name in these pictures but I can name many. See if you can spot;
me, Jackie Vero, Judy Fosberg, Maggie Herdman, Chris Damoradas, Susan Feltham, Debbie Rhatigan, Pam McPartland, Kay Burns, Vicki Haffer, Jennifer Stevens, Steve Clisset, Gavin Russo, Don Demola, Bill Taylor, Cheryl Angell, Anita Blank, Jeanette Bona, Linda Broderick, Vinnie Papadopoli, Chris Connolly, Christopher Lydon, Vito Scalia. Some of them never made it to High School, like Pam McPartland. I guess they moved or went to Catholic School because homeschooling was not a thing then!
Our class did get shuffled around elementary schools but you always knew the kids from your neighborhood and that was Mayfair for me. If we weren't in the same classes, we were walking or taking the bus together.
Here's some incentive - our hotel group rate is set to expire mid September!! If you intend to purchase a ticket at the door, you can still book a room NOW because you don't pay for it until you check out and they have a generous cancellation policy so we don't want you to miss out on that!
All the information you need is on our website and I encourage you to use it and let me know if you have any questions I haven't covered. Just call me!
REUNION ACTIVITIES
(Included with your reunion ticket)
All the planned activities and things to do are on our website.
For everyone attending, I will be sending you invitations to sign up for Trivia on Wednesday and the Pub Crawl on Thursday. PLEASE WATCH FOR IT and RSVP so I don't have to call you!!
We have a special 70's Nostalgia Trivia contest planned mid-day Wednesday that will pit teams of no more than five against each other for prizes and your MC is none other than Class of 1970, Mr. Most Dramatic; Charlie Deitch! Plan on lunch or snacks while we play! Space may be limited so RSVP!!
Our Pub Crawl on Thursday afternoon will be like no other Pub Crawl you may have experienced. I am the hostess with the mostest on this event and not even the committee knows what I have planned but you will be talking about it for a long time! I guarantee it! If you plan to check out on Thursday you can still participate and you can crawl on all or just part of the afternoon. It's free to join because you pay for whatever you choose at each stop.
The other sign up option is GOLF and you need to contact Frank Gaccione to sign up. Call or text Frank at 631-258-3431.

REUNION
With just TWO MONTHS TO GO, we had a bunch of classmates from both classes book more hotel rooms and purchase tickets in July. I am still waiting for some of you last minute decision makers to commit. Here's some incentive - our hotel group rate is set to expire mid September!! In Remembrance
Karen Madafarri-Theise learned that our classmate Jerry Criscito lost his life when he drowned on a vacation in Costa Rica with family in April this year.
Jerry and I didn't meet till High School when we shared photography class together. In 2022, Jerry attended the gathering we had in Delray Beach and I'm so glad I brought some of those pictures we took in photography class. That's the last time any of us that were there saw him. May he rest in peace and live on in our hearts.
