Newsletter March 2024 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷HAPPY EASTER - PASSOVER - SPRING!

I LOVE THE BIG DUCK!

I have been visiting this duck on and off since I was a kid.  I think my last visit was about ten years ago with my Dad.  The Big Duck is quintessentially Long Island - like the Montauk Lighthouse!

Did you know that Long Island's duck farming started in the 1870's when just four surviving Peking ducks arrived in Connecticut, for breeding, out of about 30 that started the trip from China?  After some time, duck farming relocated to Long Island.  By the 1960's, Long Island duck farms were producing 1.5 million ducks a year!  Stricter land use regulations pushed most farmers out of business or into relocating in the midwest in the 70's.  The last remaining duck farm is Crescent Duck Farm in Aquebogue.  To this day, you can find finer menus proudly proclaiming "Long Island Duck".

Things To Do
We are working on a list of activities but anyone can figure this stuff out these day on Trip Advisor.  I recommend considering an Airboat Everglades Tour if you have not done it yet.  If you are interested in Golf, Frank (1971) is going to be putting an outing together.  Let him know your interest by reply to this newsletter or send him a text directly (631-258-3431).

My ABSOLUTE BEST SUGGESTION for extending your trip (because you can get our group rate up to an extra 3 days) is a short and affordable cruise to the Bahamas.  Sailing from the Port of Palm Beach, Margaritaville At Sea has a two night cruise, with a day at sea and a full day in Freeport, Grand Bahama leaving Friday, October 18 and returning Monday the 21st.  Rates right now are $200 to $562 (suite).  I did this cruise last year with a girlfriend, shared an interior cabin and had a blast spending the day on Grand Bahama at the Taino Beach Resort's awesome pool and beach.  Gotta get the conch fritters!
